Breeze Support for Chrome

Overview

Breeze version 2.4.4 Release 47 includes phase 1 support for the Chrome browser as well as several product stabilization improvements.

This document outlines the release scope and lists the known limitations.

Support for Chrome

Previous versions of Breeze did not provide support for the Chrome browsers. Users were able to configure a 3rd party browser extension (Requestly) to save updates to Breeze documents back into Breeze.

After successful implementation of Breeze for Chrome Phase 1 there will be no need for end-users to install Requestly.

The following table outlines the Breeze functions supported in Chrome:

Limitations:

  • No support MS Office 2007 with Chrome.
  • When a document is opened from the Breeze panel (via the document links), a local copy is downloaded and the link between the document and Breeze is not maintained. Document updates are therefore not saved back directly to Breeze.
  • Only Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) are supported for opening documents via Chrome and maintaining the SP link. This behavior is not available for older versions of these files (.doc, .xls, .ppt).
  • Chrome on Mac and Chrome on Windows Supported. Chrome on Mobile or other devices is not supported.
  • Installing the Breeze and DocGen add-ins are not available in Chrome. (VSTO can’t install from chrome). This means auto-updates will not be possible.
  • The ability to email a document is not available in Chrome.
