The Search Panel Filter Ordering Feature enables administrators to configure the order in which items appear in the Breeze Knowledge Source Search Panel and Project Point Search Panel.
The feature is not activated by default on all Breeze sites and must be enabled and configured by a Customer Success Manager or by contacting the Helpdesk
If the feature is not activated, the items in the Search Panel will appear in alphabetical order. If the feature is activated, the items in the Search Panel will appear in the order you define
Terminology:
The Search Panel is the bar on the right-hand side of the Knowledge Source or Project Point landing pages. This bar contains properties used to tag content with (in the case of Knowledge Source content) or that describe a project (in Project Point).
Each property contains multiple-choice items which the user can select or deselect to refine the search criteria.
The properties (or search attributes) are defined as Categories and the values of each Category are defined as Choices.
The Search Panel contains a combination of standard Breeze Product items like File Types, State, Project Type, etc. as well as customer-defined attributes like the custom properties that describes Knowledge Source content.
Scope:
Knowledge Source Search Panel
The Knowledge Source Search Panel contains four types of search filters. These are Content Type, State, File Types and the selection of site-specific attributes that describes Knowledge Source content.
All these items can be reordered.
Project Point Search Panel
The Project Point Search Panel contains six types of search filters.
These are Search Scope, Project State, Project Types, Due In, Company and Project Owner.
All these items can be reordered except the choice items for Company and Project owner as the search filters for these two attributes are based on data and are therefore dynamic.
Configuration:
The Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent will use the intuitive confirmation page to specify the order in which items must appear on the Search Panel.
The Filter Source setting specifies whether the configuration applies to the Knowledge Source Search or Project Point Search.
If the Breeze site contains more than one Organization, the Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent can either set the configuration to a specific organization or to all organizations, meaning the configuration will take effect in the Search Panel depending on which organization the user has access to.
The Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent can then specify whether he/she wants to configure the order of categories or choices.
The Ordering page allows the Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent to drag and drop items as they should appear in the Search Panel.
If the Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent are required to order choices, he/she can specify the category for which the choice items will be configured.
The Ordering page allows the Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent to drag and drop items as they should appear in the Search Panel.
Result:
The two diagrams below illustrate the effect on the Knowledge Source search panel in a site where the search filter ordering feature is deactivated opposed to a site in which the feature is activated and configured.
Additional Notes:
- If the Filter Ordering feature is activated and the site taxonomy changes, the Customer Success Manager or Helpdesk Agent needs to run the Filter Ordering feature provisioning to retrieve the site changes into the feature configuration. Examples of these are adding/removing new Breeze columns or adding/removing choices or when new project types are added or removed.
- The feature supports sites configured as single- or multiple organizations.
- The feature is not compatible with the Linear Search Filters feature.
