Apple Mac users could find it challenging to work with Microsoft SharePoint files. In order to edit a SharePoint document, a Mac user will have to log into the site, check out and then download a document, edit it and, using a browser, upload the document and check it in again.
In order to overcome this process, Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU), have introduced Microsoft Document Connection.
Microsoft Document Connection is a SkyDrive and SharePoint connection tool first introduced with Office 2008. It offers an easier way for Mac users to interact with SkyDrive and SharePoint files such as drag-and-drop uploading and downloading as well as “rich application support”.
Document Connection is a short term intermediate application offering enterprise Macs SharePoint support while Microsoft re-develops its products to be more compatible with non-Windows systems.
